Greenpower, Energy Efficiency and Affordability Programs

In New York many of the utilities have energy efficiency and affordability programs for their low income customers. These may include assistance in reducing consumption such as refrigerator replacement, and programable appliance controls.

New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) administers programs throughout the state to improve energy efficiency and affordability for low income energy consumers. In addition there are weatherization agencies and public assistance programs that provide energy efficiency measures.

PULP participates in the SBC advisory group and advocates on behalf of low income consumers regarding the allocation, program implementation and monitoring of $119 million allocated for low income Energy Efficiency programs and $165 million for residential efficiency programs over the 8-year plan, which is now in the 4th year.

PULP gratefully acknowledges the financial assistance of the Energy Foundation for its support of PULP’s work in the areas of low income energy efficiency and renewables.
